Reapplying for License Reviewer[edit]
I have an inquiry about the appropriate timing for reapplying as a license reviewer. Given that my previous application was unsuccessful, I am interested in knowing when it would be advisable to reapply. Additionally, I'd appreciate any guidance on how to enhance my knowledge and qualifications for a successful application in the future. Any insights or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 04:40, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Btspurplegalaxy Apologies for the delay. I'd suggest no sooner than 3 months, something closer to 6 months is probably better. In the meantime, tagging copyright violations, filing deletion requests, and contributing to other's deletion requests would help your next application. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 22:11, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I'll do my best for next time ː) Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 09:13, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

accidentally calling your closure into question[edit]
I recently nominated File:Monica Elfriede Witt in uniform.jpg for deletion, citing your closure of this deletion discussion. I took your closure as precedent in the nomination, but it's apparently not as cut-and-dried as I thought and instead I've led to your closing being questioned. I'm not an expert on the matter, just basing my understanding on previous decisions, and would definitely like a consensus on this; not asking your to come down one way or another, but would you mind looking in on the discussion? Cheers, Fourthords | =Λ= | 20:38, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
Thank you![edit]
Thank you for fulfilling some of my older edit requests! I completely forgot about them until now!
Also, the description page of the image of the Malagasy woman used to be protected, so that's why I put the request. QuickQuokka [talk • contribs] 22:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Request[edit]
File:赖莎·瓦西里耶娃.jpg - Wikimedia Commons - please delete it, I did not realize that I uploaded a copyrighted item. It is not my own work. And please freeze the discussion so that the nominator of this deletion, Хоббит, could not make claims that violate the dignity of a living person, my aunt who is depicted in the image, because he continiously attacks my famous aunt and these attacks are not related to why the image should be deleted. User:Ashleywa was globally locked as puppet of globally locked hoaxer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Birdsflyinghigh123/Archive) and his articles in some wikies about Raisa Vasiljeva deleted now. Хоббит (talk) 00:48, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don't care what was deleted and what wasn't, what was locked and what wasn't, these accounts are not related to me and it all has zero relevance to Wikimedia commons. I don't send legal threats, these merely the warnings that you are not some kind of an internet god who is authorized to write whatever nonsense about a living person, especially my relative. Imagine if I begin entering internet forums and telling everyone: "Hey, your mum is a hoax, your aunt is a hoax, your all family is a bunch of idiots". Would you want to go to police? I assume you would. Then why don't you understand that some things are insulting to other people? Erikradja (talk) 01:13, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- By the way, you are writing about other people who were banned, but how about yourself? You already were banned for few days on Icelandic Wikipedia for writing nonsense and defamation about my aunt: Bannskrá - Wikipedia, frjálsa alfræðiritið. Should we pretend it doesn't matter? Erikradja (talk) 01:18, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- I was blocked by mistake of admin, an then unblocked; read the full thread https://is.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notandaspjall:Snævar#Raísa_Vasíljeva . Хоббит (talk) 01:25, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- Explain me: what benefit do you receive from all your attacks that you write in the languages you don't even know? Yes, one of my accounts was banned in your Wikipedia, which is the Russian Wikipedia. I don't use and don't edit the Russian Wikipedia anymore, so what do you need from me? Am I not allowed to upload some photo from a family album? This one might be copyrighted, but what if I upload my own? Will you continue your rant as well? I told you: even if you have no clue about some man or some woman, you are still not allowed to write defamational things about him or her. One of my other relatives, Soviet actress Vera Vasilyeva, already died after I gave her my phone to read some of your bizzarre comments. Imagine - FIVE DAYS after I showed her your bullying of Raisa. Do you feel happy? Can't you just mind your own business, your own wiki and not write insults and libel? Erikradja (talk) 01:52, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

- @Erikradja and Хоббит: Deleted per COM:CSD#G7. I'm not reading all that, but I'm guessing you both need to chill. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 01:59, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree, but Wikimedia standards say that libellous and insulting statements about living persons must be removed immediately. So I would be really grateful if you removed the slander of me and my aunt from the Хоббит's comment and hid the change like other admins do. Erikradja (talk) 02:05, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
Prevent spamming in PDF files by new users, how it works?[edit]
Hi! I saw that you were the last one to edit the 281 filter. I'm not really aware of how the mechanism works. We held an event a few days ago where different archives around argentina uploaded a document related to the topic of this year, only one of them triggered this filter. If they wait the four days to become autoconfirmed, they should be able to upload it, right? Thanks! Mauricio V. Genta (talk) 22:43, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Mauricio V. Genta Yes, if they are autoconfirmed the filter does not trigger. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 23:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello Mdaniels, thank you for your engagement on this issue. Were my answers ok for you ? I know that this kind of request can take few months to bare fruits, so allow me to come back to you on this. Yug (talk) 19:18, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Possible Copyright Vio[edit]
You wrote me in May about about a possible copyright vio. https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketNumber=2023052710004474 I am not sure how to approach that. It is a long video and in a foreign language. I can say unequivocally that I didn't give permission--if that image appears without proper attribution. I never dual licence images. If people want to reuse the things I upload--they have to follow one of the licences.
Does the WikiCommons send-out anything to the possible offender or is that up to the copyright holder (me)?
Having done >3,500 images on the WikiCommons, I have seen a few clear cut copyright vios of my work-- including one in a textbook (Silverberg's Principles and Practice of Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology 5th Ed.) (cystitis cystica) and one on the cover of the print edition of a large medical journal (Canadian Medical Association Journal - July 12, 2021) (diffuse alveolar damage). In the case of the cystitis cystica, I asked the editor to upload an image of something that isn't in the WikiCommons and I would let it go. The editor did honour that ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prostatic_stromal_tumor_of_uncertain_malignant_potential_-_1_WBAL.jpg ). In the case of the CMAJ, I wrote them a letter. They didn't publish the letter... but they did issue a correction in a subsequent issue. Nephron T|C 01:30, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Looks like a copyright vio to me - image appears at 20:08 in the video. Nephron T|C 01:41, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Nephron We don't send anything to the possible offender (and cannot, of course, offer legal advice), that's up to you. It looks like YouTube has a DMCA takedown form at [2], if you want to go that route. Or if you're willing to let past violations go if they start complying now, perhaps emailing the provided email at https://drpatoloji.com/ could get you in touch with them.
- In general, if you're interested in going after infringement, you may wish to reach out to Josve05a, who has gone after infringers legally [3] (looks like the case settled) and has written about his philosophy when pursuing infringers at w:en:Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2023-08-15/Opinion (see especially his comments). —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 01:55, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
