@Yann, you are a legend – thank you so much for finding this! Is there a chance for me to see the specific versions of the film that were deleted in 2019? Specifically, what is the resolution and duration of the two files? I am asking because we might want to find better versions to upload before and to display as MOTD on 1 January. Hi @Yann and @Racconish, just to clarify: Is File:Steamboat Willie (1928) by Walt Disney.webm the 1080p version from Disney Video? If yes, then I understand that this is the best available version which we should be using to celebrate Public Domain Day on 1 January 2024, correct? Thank you! Ich fürchte, der Upload dieses Dateityps ist hier für neue Benutzer bewusst gesperrt, bis du hier auf Commons etwas mehr Bearbeitungen vorgenommen hast. Eine einfache Lösung wäre, dass du mir oder einem anderen Nutzer die Datei für den Upload per E-Mail schickst. (Bei der Gelegenheit: Kennen wir uns schon?) Could you please clarify "midnight"? From discussion at commons and at archive.org it seems to be very unsure, if this file becomes PD at 0:00 EST, or 0:00 PST. As far as I know the MOTD changes at 0:00 UTC - at a time when the file in question has not yet entered public domain?

@C.Suthorn: I'd be happy to have a DVD purchased and sent to you, if required. Regarding your question: Intertemporal copyright law is a very under-studied field. We will have to simply go with UTC to not overcomplicate things. Gnom (talk) 23:45, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
