Church of the East edit

Thanks for your note on File:Christianity Branches.svg and the Church of the East. That can certainly be done. The chart has always been a gross oversimplification so there will always be changes or objections. One thing I wondered about too was the Mar Thoma Syrian Church. With a million members it is significant: I assume it should branch off the Church of the East line in and head up to the Protestant group, but I would welcome any thoughts you have. I have had personal contacts with priests of both sides of the Church of the East schism, but I have no direct knowledge of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church. Fitting it into your diagram would be extremely difficult, I think. These Christians were first of East Syriac tradition (represented now in India by the Syro-Malabar Church), but because of disputes with the Portuguese passed to the geographically more distant West Syriac tradition (Malankara in India), and later this branch of them passed to Protestant theology. I don't think they should be linked directly with the East Syriac line. No matter what way you try, fitting them in is perhaps impractical. Esoglou (talk) 20:00, 25 May 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
