I did not design it, though I did draw the particular SVG graphic. The design is free of copyright: that is a basic requirement for registration on the UK Flag Registry. Hogweard (talk) 22:45, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

There are references here and in the Flag Institute's Specifications for town and community flags - in the latter in particular "The UK Flag Registry only records flags freely owned and used by the people in the community or local areas represented. Flags for modern administrative entities (local authorities etc.), and flags subject to copyright restrictions would not be included." Furthermore "Entrants must also declare that they are happy for their entry to be released into the public domain."

(The City Council's page had the competition rules on it, but that has been updated since the competition finished.)

You're confusing copying with re-creating. Do you have evidence the uploader copied the original design, or just re-created it? The only complicated bit is the animal head otherwise we would not even be discussing this. Fry1989 ^eh? 04:14, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
