This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.


Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.


Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.


Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Working Lover - continued upload of non-free images after warnings

Working Lover (talk · contribs) has continued to upload non-free images despite multiple warnings include a final notice about uploading copyright violations.[1] The most recent upload File:EMitraPradeep png.png is the same image they uploaded a few days ago and deleted as a copyright violation.Special:Log&page=File:Pradeep_emitra.png They haven't responded to any messages left on their talk page and have been blocked on multiple other Wikipedia's as a sock [2] of TechsonNet (talk · contribs).[3] Ravensfire (talk) 18:30, 30 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Automated subtitle translations

User:109.133.194.215 and User:2A02:2788:269:F854:5822:A70E:4066:7C54 are likely adding machine-translated subtitles to some videos.


I don't speak all languages, but they seem to be low-quality translations from the English subtitles.

This video File:Charge - Blender Open Movie-full movie.webm, for example, has the on-screen text translation for "Guard" as "Subscribe if you are a guard" in the French subtitles. And this video File:Glass Half - Blender Open Movie-full movie.webm is translated from gibberish, the only spoken language in the video, to other languages. In this case, it can be useful to translate the spelling (or script), the [sound effects], and some English words (such as "no"), but this kind of translation can't be done by a robot.

There are some style changes that one wouldn't expect from automated translations (such as changing what the speaker IDs and sound effects are surrounded with from brackets to other symbols), so I'd feel more comfortable if someone proficient in one of the languages that have been translated to verifies that they're low quality, machine translated, or both.


The English subtitles are fine, though.

I would like to request the title file to be overwritten with by this file, c:File:Syrian Civil War map (November 24, 2023).svg while still remaining protected. The reason for the requested change is that the main file does not cite any sources for the frontlines. The proposed change is based on Al Jazeera's map (external link).
